Maria Menounos' "The EveryGirl's Guide to Life"

I get a kick out of sharing things that I am intrigued by, so here's the latest:

Maria Menounos, one of the hosts on Access Hollywood, has written a book called "The EveryGirl's Guide to Life". I first heard about it during her interview on the Rachael Ray show that aired earlier this week.  During her 10 years of experience as a correspondent, she has had the opportunity to interview experts in every field.  Here's a blurb about her book from the Bing web site:

Raised by working class immigrant parents and exposed to Hollywood's most elite experts in every field, Maria Menounos wants to share her tips and secrets with the EveryGirl, on Everything: her systems to organize life, manage time and ascend the ladder of success, her lazy woman's workout, her method to lose weight (how SHE lost 40lbs and kept it off) and her guide to being your own stylist (how to do hair, make up and fashion as if you had a team of stylists).

Maria shares personal experiences and photos from her life and red carpet journey as well as the various mantras, mottos and philosophies she's adapted from the world's most successful women. Maria gives advice on health, career, relationships, renovations, recreation and so much more. From your carpet to the red carpet, she teaches the EveryGirl, on the "every salary", how to groom themselves like the stars, how to live healthier and happier lives AND how to set themselves up for success.

Because she felt like some of her tips would translate better through video, she teamed up with Bing to create a site where she posts videos of tips from her book:  http://www.bing.com/maria

I definitely plan on purchasing her book as soon as I can get my hands on it!

TARGET DOES IT AGAIN!: FAB Mossimo COLORED Pumps @ Target for only $29.99!!

Well, folks...TARGET HAS DONE IT AGAIN!  They brought back the fabulous & COMFORTABLE (I can definitely attest to that!) Mossimo Viviana Pumps but this time they are available in RED patent, BLUE patent, BLACK patent, BLACK GLITTER, GOLD GLITTER & CHEETAH PRINT (*RAWR*!).  They are all ONLY $29.99!!!

Background story:  When I came across the Mossimo nude, patent leather, platform pumps at Target, I almost sh*tted my pants.  Not only because of the height of the heel (as most avid Target shoppers know...it's hard to find anything higher than a 3" heel) but also THE PRICE!  The nude pumps were ONLY $29.99!!!  You can't beat that with a bat.  I couldn't pass up the STEAL...and I had been on the hunt for a pair of nude pumps for a while now, so I HAD to buy them.

The nude patent pumps are comparable to the Steve Madden Caryssa pump that runs around $89.  They also had the style available in a gold glitter finish, as well, which was comparable to the Steve Madden CaryssaG pump that runs around $129.

I have yet to see them in person (other than the gold glitter pumps) but I know that they are available online, if you are unable to find them in-store.

**FYI...I kid you not, these are the most comfy pumps that I own (I have the nude patent pumps - I'm wearing them in the "My Young, Thrifty, and Thriving Fashion Epiphany" post).

Penn Station Chronicles: Deja Vu

Penn Station Chronicles does not discriminate.   No sir...sure doesn't.  Just when I thought it was only NY Penn Station that would provide random entertainment...I was sadly mistaken.  Newark Penn Station is right up there and did not disappoint.

Background story:  Last year, on Halloween, my sister and I participated in the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade.  It was my first time in the parade...actually it was my first Halloween ever in NY.  But let's cut to the chase...after finishing the parade, we took the train back to Newark Penn Station where we were parked.  As we're leaving the station and walking towards the parking garage, a woman approximately in her 40s, approaches us and gives us this looooonnng speech about how she's been out there all day trying to get enough money to feed her family...TEARS AND ALL!  I'll never forget it.  It was convincing, but you have to be skeptical.  Because it was so late, we gave her a few dollars because you never know what to expect at that time of night if you turn someone down...they may just be that desperate.

Anywho...I recently came back from a trip to VA, and my sister and I took the Amtrak to Newark Penn where her husband would be picking us up.  Needless to say...on our way out of the station, towards the parking garage *DUN DUN DUNNNN* (Do you know where I'm going with this?  Are you ready?) the lady who approached us on Halloween was back to the same old tricks!  OH NO SHE DIDN'T!  Oh yes, she did!   I recognized her the instant I saw her because she came to us in the same fashion and in the same exact spot.

This time, daylight was on our side, and we had an extra person!  We just kept walking as she was getting ready to pull out her best performance.  Shut her DOWN!  She got a "a" out, but that was about it!  We know who you are, honey!  You may not remember us, but we sure do remember you!

Moral of the story (not to state the obvious):  Sometimes, you just have to keep on walking and ignore people when they are begging for money.  You can't trust everyone who asks for spare change...you never know if they are genuinely in need or if that is their daily routine.

Thank you, Newark Penn Station!
